About Us

The National Health Mission (NHM) was established in 2005 with the objective of enhancing the overall health and healthcare delivery system in the country. The mission prioritizes providing comprehensive and accessible healthcare to all citizens, especially those living in rural and urban areas. Additionally, it aims to strengthen public health management and service delivery by implementing policies and programme that address significant health issues and challenges in the country. It was initially launched as the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) and later expanded to include urban areas as the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) in 2013.
